Small Perthshire Country Garden

This lovely country garden in the depths of Perthshire has really been transformed.   It was blank area of lawn and now it is a delightful walled terrace that compliments the landscape beyond.  It creates a cosy entertaining space to catch the sun, eat, drink and be merry while enjoying the spectacular views.  The walling is local stone and this ties in well to the Indian Sandstone in the terrace.

The Brief for a Country Garden

  • A design to bring the garden together
  • A low maintenance space but a beautiful garden
  • Natural materials to tie in with the surroundings

Dry stone walling wraps around the curved terrace and therefore provides spots for convenient benches within the wall and protects the dining area from the worst of the wind.  Two cut out planting beds contain herb plantings to soften the space.  Finally clipped box balls add structural definition during winter months.  We have just planted the garden and will update to show how they establish over the summer.  I hope you agree the garden looks good already but soon it will be a riot of colour.  We will return to report its progress!
