Northern Scotland Garden

About...

This garden was designed in close collaboration with the clients who wanted to breathe new life into their mature established garden.

The levels were rationalized and new central steps were built using Caithness stone.  These lead down to a grass circular seating area surrounded by fastigiate oaks and stipa gigantea.  Benches were placed to enjoy the beautiful views down the garden.

Throughout the planting is naturalistic and relaxed and carefully placed clipped box balls compliment the yew hedging and give winter interest.

The garden is just north of Inverness so plants needed to be particularly hardy to cope with the conditions.

High quality landscape gardening in Scotland always needs to take into account the weather challenges throughout the year.
